A Warriner to Rescue Her
by Virginia Heath Book

The Blurb

Tempted by the damsel in distress!

Captain James Warriner is startled to find a curvaceous beauty caught up a tree in his orchard! Despite his shattered leg, he rescues Miss Cassandra Reeves, then is determined to have nothing more to do with the enticing vicar’s daughter.

Except when Cassie seeks Jamie out to apologise, they find themselves persuaded to work together on her storybook. Secret liaisons with the dashing soldier make Cassie wish Jamie would rescue her once more…by making her his wife!

The Review

Our hero, Captain James, ‘Jamie’ Warriner, is an ex-soldier, skilled in the acts of violence but an artist with a delicate touch. The ghosts of war and an abusive father still haunt Jamie. He believes he is dangerous; a broken man, not only physically but mentally and spiritually.

Jamie is the very essence of everything male with splashes of ‘feminine’ insightfulness and sensitivity that make his character multifaceted and incredibly rich in depth. He is scarred and he is beautiful. If only someone could make him realise it! I would happily volunteer myself to enlighten him…

“…He was actually a deeply sensitive soul underneath all of his monosyllabic gruffness…”

Jamie doesn’t think he is the least bit desirable in a world where his wounds of war limit his prospects. But our heroine, Miss Cassandra Reeves, Cassie, believes differently. In the opening scene Jamie rescues Cassie, in a scene that made me erupt with laughter, but also had me swooning over Jamie’s Ox like strength and stubbornness. Cassie’s first impressions of our Ox of a hero Jamie,

“…He was exactly what she imaged a pirate to look like. Or a highwayman. Or a mythical knight sat around King Arthur’s table..”

Cassie, a vicar’s daughter, bullied into subservience by her father and led to believe her passionate and creative nature is nothing but sinful in the eyes of the lord. “Why did she always have to be so clumsy and so odd?” Cassie is a bewitching heroine: passionate and creative but damaged just like Jamie.

“… Surely they were a match made in heaven?”

Jamie and Cassie are kindred spirits, souls destined to meet each other in this life or the next. Jamie rescues Cassie only for her to rescue him straight back and they thoroughly deserved their happily-ever-after!

A Warriner to Rescue Her, did not just induce giggling but full on belly-laughter. But then the story flipped me upside down and had my throat clogged and my eyes misty with emotion. This love story is breath-takingly written. A love story that had me spell-bound from the get-go and continued to weave it’s magic until the final page.

A romance that is devilishly funny but just as emotionally charged as a love scene in the rain. A highly, highly recommended read. 5/5 stars from me!

Tycoon Cowboy’s Baby Surprise (The Wild Caruthers Bachelors Book#1) by Katherine Garbera

The Blurb

Wedding planner Kinley Quinten’s luck runs out when her job brings her back to Texas – and face-to-face with her child’s father, rancher Nate Caruthers. The passion that got them in trouble during a one-night stand three years ago is still there, too strong to deny.

Nate can’t help it: Kinley gets under his skin. But what happened in Vegas really needs to stay there. Too bad that cliché only gets him so far as he falls for the woman whose baby secret will change everything!

The Review

Our hero, Nate Caruthers, is ego-centric and arrogant. Nate is as ‘smooth’ as a quenelle teased and molded by Gordon Ramsey and just as irresistible. “He was a mix of rancher, businessman and jet-setting playboy.”

‘He was a temporary cowboy…the kind of man who knew how to show a woman a good time for a short stretch, but he might change for the right woman.’

But along comes our heroine, Kinley Quinten. A blast from the past for our hero Nate and it’s not long before they both realise they didn’t leave the chemistry between them in Vegas. But Kinley has a secret that will change Nate’s life forever. Kinley is savvy, independent and has an inner strength that only a Mother can possess.

I have to mention ‘Jacs’ Kinley’s boss. What an awesome secondary character. ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ springs to mind with all her style and pzazz. But she is wise and wonderful. Jacs can be my confidant, mentor and friend anytime!

Jacs winked at her as she stood up.

“We all need someone in our corner who sees our strengths.”

This is my second title by Katherine Garbera and she has not disappointed, Her writing is fast with a rich plot and plenty of heat!

A highly recommended read.  4/5 stars from me.

Conveniently Wed to the Greek

The Blurb

A marriage for the sake of her baby…

When luxury hotelier Alex Mikhalis encounters the blogger who once nearly destroyed his reputation, he wants to get even. Only Adele Hudson isn’t exactly as he remembers. She’s pregnant, alone and he can’t stop his protective instincts kicking in!

After a difficult break up, Adele is very wary of all relationships. She had no choice but to accept the Greek tycoon’s offer of a job, despite their complicated past. But his next suggestion is much more intimate: becoming his convenient wife!

The Review

Adele, ‘Dell’, our heroine is a modern day woman, a reviewer and a food blogger. Adele had dared to write a bad review of Alexio’s restaurant and he had sworn to take her down even after the judge had ruled in her favour. So being thrown together by fate was the last thing either of them wanted but fate usually has a plan…

Dell is a ‘real’ woman in every sense of the word. Her inner turmoil I found would be extremely relatable to many women. IVF, pressure, anxiety, and a failed marriage … ‘She would never be a mother…’  Dell’s character was compelling, believable and I jolly well liked her!

Our hero, Alexios, ‘Alex’, Mikhalis. He was a ‘Tycoon hotelier … Playboy Tycoon with the Magic Touch.’ Alex is ruthless, arrogant and determined to bend everyone to his will. That is until a tragedy leaves him guilt-ridden and he re-evaluates who he is as a human being; seeking forgiveness and redemption for his actions of the past. His character swiftly becomes the man of many a girls dreams. The dialogue is gentle, sensual and believable.

An enemies to lovers romance ending in a marriage of convenience that will make your heart swell. Two torn souls patching each other up, a true Cherish tale of the rushes of falling in love.

A gentle and moving story, that will have you rooting for their happily ever after. The writing portrayed exotic and magical locations while the central romance oozed with tender sensuality. A graceful style of writing, that effortlessly draws you into the story, 4/5 stars from me.
